Frequently asked questions

How do I mark a country?

Open the Map tab and tap a country (or use search to find it). Choose Visited, Want to Go or Lived. Tap the same country again to change or clear its status. Your stats update instantly.

How does sync work?

Without an account, your map is saved on this device only. To sync across devices and back up your map, sign in with Apple or Google from Passport → Settings. After you sign in, changes sync automatically whenever you are online. Sign in with the same method on another device to see the same map.

If something looks out of date, make sure you're connected to the internet, then close and reopen the app.

How do I invite friends to a challenge?

Sign in first, then open the challenge and tap Invite. Search for your friend's username — or tap the QR button to scan their code — and send a request. Once they accept, you can compare country counts, see each other's next travel plans and, if you both choose to, proof photos. A challenge can have up to 15 friends.

Your map is never visible to anyone until you accept their request (or they accept yours). You can remove a friend at any time.

How do I report or block someone?

Open the person's profile (or the photo you want to report), tap the ••• menu and choose Report or Block. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours; objectionable content is removed and offending accounts are terminated. Blocking someone removes them from your crew and stops them from finding you or seeing your map.

You can also report by email to — include the username and what happened.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Passport → Settings → Delete account and confirm. This permanently deletes your account and all of its data, including your map, profile, crew and photos. It can't be undone.

Don't have the app anymore? Request deletion by email.

What does the passport picker do?

Choosing your passport tints the app with your passport's color and shows sample visa information for destinations. It's indicative only and may be out of date — always confirm entry requirements with official government sources before you travel.

Why did I see a "Sponsored" message?

BeenTo occasionally shows a message from its own campaigns to help keep the app free. It isn't personalized, we don't use third-party ad networks or tracking, and you can close it with "Not now".

Do I need an account?

No. You can track countries without signing in. An account is only needed to sync across devices and to join a challenge with friends.
