Terms of Use

Effective date: October 2, 2026 · Last updated: October 2, 2026

The short version

  • Be respectful. No offensive usernames, names or photos — we have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.
  • You can report and block anyone. We review reports within 24 hours, remove objectionable content and terminate offending accounts.
  • Visa information in BeenTo is a sample for illustration only. Always check official government sources before you travel.
  • BeenTo may show an occasional message labeled "Sponsored" from its own campaigns.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and BeenTo ("BeenTo", "we", "us") and govern your use of the BeenTo iOS app and this website (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who can use BeenTo

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use BeenTo. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use BeenTo only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. You may not use the Service if you have previously been banned from it.

3. Your account

  • An account is optional. You can create one with Sign in with Apple or Google.
  • Provide accurate information and keep your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Usernames are first come, first served. We may reclaim or change a username that violates these Terms, impersonates someone, or infringes someone's rights.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Passport → Settings → Delete account.

4. Your content

"Your content" means anything you add to BeenTo: your username, display name, profile photo, travel map, next travel plans and proof photos.

  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • You give BeenTo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, resize and display your content only as needed to operate the Service — for example, to sync your map and show your profile, plans and photos to the friends you accept. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for residual backup copies that are erased on our normal schedule.
  • You confirm that you have the rights to everything you upload, and that any people shown in your photos have agreed to appear there.
  • Proof photos are self-declared. BeenTo does not verify that you actually visited a country.

5. Community rules (acceptable use)

BeenTo has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post, as a username, display name, profile photo, proof photo, travel plan or in any other way, content that:

  • is sexually explicit, pornographic or contains nudity;
  • sexualizes, exploits or endangers minors in any way;
  • is hateful, discriminatory or demeaning based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic;
  • harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates or stalks anyone;
  • depicts or promotes violence, self-harm, terrorism or violent extremism;
  • is defamatory, obscene, vulgar or deliberately offensive or shocking;
  • promotes illegal activity, drugs, weapons or dangerous acts;
  • impersonates another person or organization, or misrepresents who you are;
  • shares someone else's personal information (such as their address, phone number or documents) without permission;
  • infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • is spam, advertising, scams or links to malicious content.

You must also not:

  • send repeated unwanted friend requests or contact people who have blocked you;
  • create accounts to evade a ban or block;
  • scrape, crawl or harvest data from the Service, or access it by automated means;
  • interfere with, overload, probe or attempt to break the security of the Service;
  • reverse engineer the app except where the law expressly allows it;
  • use the Service in any way that breaks applicable law.

6. Reporting, blocking and moderation

  • Report: you can report any user, username, display name, profile photo or proof photo from inside the app. You can also email us at .
  • Block: you can block any user. A blocked user can no longer find you, send you requests or see your map, plans or photos, and is removed from your crew.
  • Review: we review reports within 24 hours.
  • Action: we remove content that violates these Terms and we terminate the accounts of users who post objectionable content or abuse others. Depending on severity, we may also issue a warning, reset a username or profile photo, or restrict features. Serious violations — and any content that exploits minors — lead to immediate termination and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
  • We may also remove content or suspend accounts on our own initiative to protect users or the Service. If you believe we made a mistake, contact us and we will review it.

7. Challenge with friends

The challenge lets you invite up to 15 friends by username to compare country counts, share next travel plans and, optionally, proof photos. Nothing is shared with someone until they accept your request or you accept theirs. You can remove a friend or leave the challenge at any time. Country counts and rankings are for fun only and are based on what each user marks.

8. Visa and travel information

When you choose a passport, BeenTo may show visa information for destinations. This information is sample and indicative only. It may be incomplete, simplified or out of date, and it does not account for your personal circumstances (such as residency, purpose or length of stay, or travel history). It is not legal or immigration advice.

Always verify entry, visa, passport validity and health requirements with official sources — such as the destination country's government, embassy or consulate, and your own government's travel advice — before you book or travel. BeenTo is not responsible for any denied boarding, refused entry, fines, costs or other consequences of relying on information shown in the app.

9. Sponsored content

BeenTo may occasionally show a popup labeled "Sponsored". These are BeenTo's own campaigns, served from our servers without third-party ad networks, and they are not personalized to you. You can dismiss any sponsored popup with "Not now". A sponsored message may link to products, services or websites of third parties. We do not endorse them and are not responsible for their content, offers or practices; your dealings with them are solely between you and them.

10. Maps and country names

Country names, borders and territories in BeenTo are shown for convenience, using commonly available data. They do not represent any political position or an opinion on the legal status of any country, territory or border.

11. Our intellectual property

The Service, including the app, its design, logo, text and software (excluding your content), is owned by BeenTo or its licensors and is protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, sell or distribute the Service except as these Terms allow.

12. Apple and other third parties

  • These Terms are between you and BeenTo only, not Apple Inc. BeenTo, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content, maintenance, support, warranties (to the extent not disclaimed) and for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance and intellectual property claims.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
  • Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In are provided by Apple and Google under their own terms.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using BeenTo and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect users or the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) will survive.

14. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that data will never be lost, or that information in the app (including visa information) is accurate or complete. Keep your own records of anything important to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BeenTo and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, travel costs or opportunities, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service, content posted by other users, sponsored content or third-party websites, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

16. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold BeenTo harmless from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of anyone's rights.

17. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date; for significant changes we will also notify you in the app. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

18. General

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the place where BeenTo's developer is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
